As you many know from my blog infrastructure post, I’ve been using Heroku to host this blog.
A major downside of free Heroku is that your worker periodically goes to sleep. This results in ridiculously long (>2 seconds) load times as you wait for it to wake up.
I was also getting tired of having to commit my public folder into git, which Heroku forces you to do when you want to “deploy.”
Fed up with these frustrations, I migrated the blog to Amazon’s S3 hosting today. It was surprisingly easy! For pointers, see,
